Choosing to See

This is not how it should be
This is not how it could be,
But this is how it is
and our God is in control.

This is not how it will be
When we finally see,
We'll see with our own eyes
He was always in control.

This is not where we planned to be
when we started this journey,
but this is where we are
and our God is in control.

Though this first taste is bitter
there will be sweetness forever
when we finally taste and see
that our God is in control.

Robin and Cranberries

A couple of robins have been hanging around and I felt badly for them because of all the snow, so I set some dried cranberries out for them. You can see one half hidden in front of the robin.

He's playing it cool because he knows I'm watching him from the kitchen.

Then he quickly grabs it. And down it goes! He ate a couple more and then flew away.

Our tulips are up!

Aren't they gorgeous?

April Fools!!!

My tulips are still buried under this much snow!

However, there are signs of spring.

The geese are back,

(look closely or double click and you'll see the tongue of the goose on the left)

and the house sparrows are pairing up and in and out of our birdhouse.

Another 2 months should see our tulips in bloom!

Dad's 95th Birthday

We had a family supper at Irene's and then invited cousins and aunts for the evening.
We had scrapbooked an album for Dad of all the children and grandchildren's families
and he loved it.
He looked at it again and again.
There are more pictures on facebook.

Dad and his girls.

The joke of the weekend was this picture.
We bought tickets to a movie, got our popcorn and drinks,
then asked a lady to take our picture.
We didn't realize until we saw the picture later what the sign above our heads said!
This was the name of a movie which we didn't go to see.

Valentine's Day, 1972!

Here is a Valentine's Day card I made for Mal in 1972 .
We had been married just over a year.

This page couldn't quite fit into the scanner.
Double click to enlarge if you can't read it.

So does this look like me now?

Happy Valentine's Day Mal.
I love you still!

Irene's 65th Birthday

We went out for a nice lunch while the guys ate soup at home! :-)

Then we went for a pedicure.

Irene got a pretty flower put on her toe.
Then they were off to Mexico!

How blessed we are!
Our lives are so different than our Mom's.
I've been thinking about her: at our age she'd been in a wheelchair for years and didn't go out much, yet she always had a cheerful attitude.
We have so much to be thankful for!

Photo Contest

Woohoo, I won fifty bucks!
Our town had a Photo Contest in which they asked for pictures which they could use in the future for promotion purposes. It was supposed to depict why I like living here.
I got second prize.

This was my entry- a moose in front of our new school.
I don't think it was one of my best moose pictures, but I assume they chose it because it had to promote something in our town.

This was a picture that I took last summer of my sunflowers in the back yard.
It has nothing to do with the contest - just a picture I haven't posted before.
