Apartment Life

Mal built a five-plex birdhouse! I wonder if they'll like apartment life? We're hoping for tree swallows and apparently they will nest near bluebirds. That would be a nice combo. I suppose what we're most likely to get is sparrows, but it would be fun even to watch sparrows nest and produce progeny.

Seeds are up!

I find the process of seeds germinating fascinating to watch.

These are moonflowers. I've never grown them before. The package says they offer a fabulous show of fragrant white blossoms which grow up to 6" across. The blossoms open in the evening and stay open until the next noon. They are a vine with a beautiful fragrance. I will plant them to grow up our arbor. And of course, I've planted the Giant Russian Sunflowers, and they are up as well.

Missing summmer in Keremeos

A little grainy and no sound, but it brings back great memories!

I want spring!

This is the fourth day of blowing snow. That's a little much for the end of April!
To cheer myself up I planted flowers in seed pots, and changed the sidebar on this blog from mushrooms to birds.

Spring Projects

We've been very busy since January, but now things have eased up a bit, so Mal has undertaken some projects. He closed in the west side of the deck with cedar and it looks so much better! Mal wants me to tell you that he only paid $10 for the cedar at a garage sale last fall.

Looks better, eh?

He also built an innukshuk for the front and back yards.

This weekend we're back into a winter storm. The birds have been feeding steadily midst all the cold and blowing snow.

I'm glad I'm not a bird!

Miscellaneous

Here's a sunrise in our subdivision awhile ago. It seems like an appropriate title would be "House of the rising sun!"
We travelled to Peace River Country last weekend and we always enjoy this railroad trestle near Whitcourt.
Snow geese have been in our area for the last several weeks. I put on my boots to walk through the marsh, and crawled under fences to get close, but they took off when they saw me, so my pictures are not very exciting!
